PlayStation Plus Free Games For January 2020 Announced
Happy New Year, if you're into that sort of thing. 2020 is finally upon us, which means there are resolutions to abandon after one week, new adventures to look forward to, and video games to play. There are always video games to play. As we head into the new decade together, Sony has announced which two "free" titles PlayStation Plus subscribers can get their hands on in January.
You'll be glad to know we're starting off 2020 with a robust pairing. Well, technically we're actually getting four games instead of the usual two this month. Starting January 7th (that's this Tuesday), PS4 owners with a PS Plus subscription will be able to download Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Goat Simulator.
The former is a handsome remastered set of the first three Uncharted adventures, and well worth a look for any action adventure fans who might have missed Nathan Drake's PS3-era outings the first time around. The latter is... well, it's a goat simulator. Kind of. And by kind of I mean not at all. It defies description, really, but it's free so if you're curious... now is the time to check it out.
Both games will be available for PS Plus subscribers to add to their library until February 3rd. After that, they'll be GONE FOREVER. You know, unless you're willing to pay for them like some kind of chump. As always, both games will remain available for you to download from your library and play for as long as you're subscribed to PS Plus.
Don't forget: you've only got a few days left to download December's freebies before they're swapped out for January's offerings. Titanfall 2 and Monster Energy Supercross are both worthy of your time, but the former is a particularly underappreciated gem from Apex Legends developer Respawn. One that absolutely deserves more love than it gets.
The 2016 title truly suffered back in the day when EA inexplicably chose to launch it between Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1, but soon after Titanfall 2 was made free on PS4, the game's playberbase saw a staggering revival.
Before hitting PS Plus, the shooter would manage to bring in around 1,500 players on a good day. Through December, it was bringing in around 90,000. Yes, it's probably because it was a free game of the month... but it was still lovely to see. Grab it before January 6th, or regret it forever. Or don't. Do whatever you want. Your new year, your choice.
