‘Pokémon Sword’ And ‘Shield’ DLC Release Confirmed, Old Favourites Return
The first chunky piece of DLC for last year's Pokémon Sword and Shield games (review) finally has a release date. The Isle of Armor expansion will be available for owners of the Switch game on June 17th.
The expansion - just like its subsequent companion DLC, The Crown Tundra - brings with it all-new environments unlike those found in the base game's Galar Region, like forests and bogs, caves and sand dunes.
And yes, there are new Pokémon to catch, too. Obviously. Legendary Pokémon appearing across the two DLC packages include Urshifu (with a Gigantamax version, too), Calyrex and Kubfu. Two brand-new Pokémon join the roster: Regieleki and Regidrago. There are also Gigantamax forms for Blastoise and Venusaur.

Alongside the DLC releases, Pokémon fans clamouring for some feathered-friend action might be interested to know that creatures looking a whole lot like Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres are residents of the Crown Tundra. These are, says Game Freak, distinct variants - but as for how close they are to the monsters you know, we'll have to wait and see.
There's also a new, Galarian form of Slowbro coming to the game, uniquely adapted to the environment of Sword and Shield and bearing a new 'Shell Side Arm' move. And other familiar faces, fuzzy and sorta steel-y, return with The Isle of Armor, including Kingdra, Magnezone, Chansey and Azurill. There are way more besides those, but we're not here to list 'em all. We're here to catch 'em, right?
