PS Plus Members Are Getting Free ‘Apex Legends’ Goodies

PS Plus Members Are Getting Free ‘Apex Legends’ Goodies

Is there a better price than free? I mean, negative money would be great, but how does someone actually pay you to take something off their hands? Well, if you're an Apex Legends player then you're already playing the game for free, and if you're a PlayStation Plus member on top then you can now grab yourself a Play Pack that comes full of cosmetic items. This Play Pack won't set you back anything, it's the wonderful price of zilch, nada, zero. Free.

The pack comes with:

  • 2 character skins
  • 2 weapon skins
  • 2 banners

Now these aren't random, you'll get the skins and the banners for Lifeline and Mirage, and the weapon skins are for the Eva-8 and the R-99. If you want to grab the pack then you can track it down in the PlayStation Store (It's called the 'Apex Legends: PlayStationPlus Play Pack').

Apex Legends hasn't been releasing new content with the same cadence as Fortnite, but the developers have been very open about why, saying in an update that "we want to maintain our culture as a development team and avoid crunch that can quickly lead to burnout or worse." So while the team will be releasing big new features for Apex Legends and there will be seasons of new content and skins, you won't be seeing the torrent of updates Epic is putting out.

Epic, on the other hand, is able to put out those updates because it is allegedly trapped in a neverending crunch period. Developers are apparently constantly working more than 70 hours a week, and any time a bug is discovered in the game, it has to have a hotfix put out to solve the issue. It can't wait until the next patch.

I still main Lifeline, because if I'm healing I'm helping

While this is great for players, who get a lively game that is always changing, it could have a terrible effect on the people making the game. They get tired, stressed, ill, and it puts a strain on their relationships inside and outside work. Is any game worth that?
