PUBG & PES 2019 Are Free To Download On Xbox One Right Now

PUBG & PES 2019 Are Free To Download On Xbox One Right Now

Update: these games are free to play for a limited time only, so do get them while the going's good, but don't be too bummed if your access is revoked before long.

Well, this is rather unexpected. The two big Ps, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, are free on Xbox One right now.

I know what you're thinking - why? The former is immensely popular and fairly new, leaving its Early Access stage in September, and the latter only released on 30 August, and is one of the biggest football games on the planet.

To be honest, we don't actually know. Microsoft hasn't shared why both titles are now free on the Xbox store, but don't ponder on the boring details all day. Get downloading!

If you are interested in downloading each game, and aren't here just to find out the whats and whys - click here for PUBG and click here for PES 2019. Make sure you're quick, though, as they're "free for a limited time" only.

And remember, it doesn't matter whether you've got space on your Xbox One hard drive or not; if you hit download, those games are yours forever, and you can rejig your library to install them whenever you feel like it.

The Verge first reported on this strange revelation. They managed to grab PUBG and PES 2019 from the web store without any problems, as have I. Looks like Christmas came early.

PES 2019 Is One Of July’s Free PlayStation Plus Games

published ata year ago

Although this promotion seems a tad out of the ordinary, Microsoft's XO18 event kicks off this Saturday, so perhaps this limited offer isn't so random after all.

We know, for certain, that PUBG has a lot in store for us next month, including a new map, Suicide Squad collab, and a PS4 release date, so maybe Microsoft's simply foreshadowing what's to come. Either that, or the company's trying to steal back some thunder by taking advantage of its remaining days of PUBG console exclusivity.

That doesn't explain PES 2019, though. We have no idea why it's free. We expected it to enter the Xbox Game Pass around May, similar to PES 2018, but now? Something's got to be going on, so check back here for updates surrounding Microsoft's odd decision.
