'Red Dead Redemption 2' PC Mods Are Already Here, And They're Wild
Red Dead Redemption 2 finally comes to PC today, and it seems that some of the more industrious modders out there have incredibly already managed to get their mitts on the game and start work on all manner of marvelous mods.
As reported by PC Gamer, a team calling themselves RedDeadModders seem to have gotten themselves a headstart and have come out of the gate with a small handful of mods, including ones that re-skin our favourite sad cowboy Arthur Morgan as Joker and The Terminator. What a time to be alive.
The team also seems to be planning a ton of other mods, including a few that introduce the Four Horses of the Apocalypse from the original Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare DLC, and one zesty-sounding reshade mod that enhances the game's colours, shadows, tone mapping and sharpness.
Having not seen or played any of these mods myself, I can't speak for the quality of them... but they sound great, at least. It's also not entirely clear how this team was able to get their hands on Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC so early. Maybe Rockstar offered them early access so that they had some time to get acquainted with the game?
Whatever the case, you can check out the Joker mod over at Nexus Mods. Installation instructions don't seem to be available yet, presumably because the game isn't out at the time of writing. If you were wondering, the PC version of the game should unlock around 3pm (UK time).
After that? Well, I'm assuming that the floodgates will be very much open and the amount of insane mods will start to come thick and fast. After all, if Rockstar don't want to give us Undead Nightmare II, you can bet your butt there's a team of modders out there who will.
In addition to the inevitable mod support, Rockstar also previously confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 would feature all kinds of new content on PC, including a handful of new bounties to hunt, treasures to find, gang hideouts to raid, and enhanced visuals to feast our eyes on - at least until a modder creates an 8K 240fps mod that melts our faces.
We can also expect three new revolvers, a bunch of new horses, a ton of stat-enhancing trinkets, and a new mission in which you'll have to collect various herbs in exchange for a range of rewards. In other words, a new fetch quest. Yay.
