Resident Evil Announcement Coming Next Month, Teases Capcom
Capcom appears to be teasing some kind of Resident Evil-related announcement for June 10th. According to a member of the Resident Evil Ambassador program, fans signed up to the exclusive Japan-based initiative have been told to expect some kind of update two weeks from now.
It's entirely unclear what this could be at this stage. It could simply be some kind of news pertaining to the Ambassador program itself, meaning there's little reason for most of us to get excited. However, as we head into what would have been E3 season, there's a chance Capcom is gearing up to announce the next game in the franchise. Perhaps Resident Evil 8, or the rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake.
This wouldn't be the first time that members of the Ambassador program got the skinny on juicy Resident Evil before the rest of us. A few months before the multiplayer series entry Resistance was announced, Ambassadors were invited to play an early build of the game. It'd make sense to keep them in the loop if there's big news on the horizon, in that case.
According to the latest reports, Resident Evil 8 is being readied for a 2021 release. An imminent reveal for the next mainline entry definitely isn't too out of the question, then. Whatever's being planned June 10th, if it's that big we shouldn't have long to wait before Capcom lets the rest of us know.

The same leaker who claimed Resi 8 is coming in 2021 also suggested that the game will be a "serious departure" for the series that "many purists" are going to hate.
"It is first-person," reliable horror game leaker DuskGolem explained of the game on Twitter. "Many purists are going to hate it because it's taking some serious departures in the story/enemies and the like. Hallucinations, Occultism, insanity and not being able to trust others are huge thematics of the game."
Separate reports have also claimed Resident Evil 8 would be first-person, and that Resi 7 protagonist Ethan would team up with series regular Chris Redfield. In addition, it's been said that the game will feature classic zombies, as well as new threats like ghosts and werewolves.
Clearly there are lot of rumours flying around right now, so we'll have to take most of this with a pinch of salt. Hopefully June 10th is able to deliver us some answers about the future of the franchise. Watch this space.
