Rockstar Boss "Thankful" He's Not Releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 In The "Age Of Trump"

Rockstar Boss "Thankful" He's Not Releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 In The "Age Of Trump"

Red Dead Redemption 2's release is on the horizon, but Rockstar Games boss Dan Houser has found himself discussing another highly anticipated sequel fans are after.

Grand Theft Auto VI, the long-awaited follow up to GTA V, has been on gamer's lips ever since they dived into the immense worlds of Los Santos and GTA Online.

However, said gamers might have missed out on GTA VI if it was planned to release instead of Red Dead 2, all because of one man you might have heard of before - Donald Trump.

Ok, it's not really his fault - the President of the Unites States hasn't slammed the ban hammer on GTA VI - but the "age of Trump," as noted by GQ in their interview with Houser, might have caused the game to suffer.

The Rockstar head says he's "thankful" that GTA VI isn't releasing in today's political climate, and that "it's really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did.

"Both intense liberal progression and intense conservatism are both very militant, and very angry. It is scary but it's also strange, and yet both of them seem occasionally to veer towards the absurd.

"It's hard to satirise for those reasons. Some of the stuff you see is straightforwardly beyond satire. It would be out of date within two minutes, everything is changing so fast."

The good news is Houser didn't say the game isn't coming, so maybe Grand Theft Auto fans should also be "thankful" that Red Dead 2 is set to launch before VI. Hopefully world politics has sorted itself out by the time GTA VI releases, the last thing we want is to wait longer than we need to.

That being said, even if GTA VI was scheduled for release this year, it's an absolute money machine. We really can't imagine Rockstar pushing back a release or missing out on all that wonga. Plus, the game is rumoured to be years-in development already, so don't lose too much sleep over this news. It's coming some day.
