Silent Hill PlayStation 5 Reveal Coming This Year, Says Leaker

Silent Hill PlayStation 5 Reveal Coming This Year, Says Leaker

Are we getting a Silent Hill reboot on PlayStation 5? There have been numerous, conflicting reports over the past few months.

Hideo Kojima was involved in a P.T revival at one point, then there were rumours that the new game would be a back-to-basics reboot/remake. Multiple sources seemed to confirm in the end that there were multiple Silent Hill projects headed to PlayStation 5, and that we'd see a reveal during the PS5 reveal event.

This was, sadly, not to be. The PS5 event (finally) came and went without a whiff of Silent Hill action. Just a month or two before that, Konami had already come out and said that the Silent Hill rumours simply weren't true. Any hope that the publisher had been lying kind of died with the PS5 reveal.

But is it really over? According to reliable horror game leaker AestheticGamer, the Silent Hill revival is real, and it is coming during a second PS5 event scheduled for August... or the Tokyo Game Show in September. This isn't the first we've heard of a follow-up PS5 show with more reveals, which is believed to have been set up in response to the Xbox Series X show later this month.

The PlayStation 5 Has Revived A 'Classic' PlayStation 3 Bug

"100% Silent Hill is coming back," AestheticGamer wrote on Twitter. "That I can say with certainty (and have been since the start of this year). A Japanese-developed Silent Hill game started dev at the beginning of 2019 (a bit of planning & work done the end of 2018)."

It's worth noting that AestheticGamer had been sharing accurate details on Resident Evil Village for months before its official announcement at the PS5 event. Even the most outlandish rumours, including that the game would feature werewolves and ghosts, were proven to be true in the debut trailer. They've clearly got the inside track when it comes to survival horror, is what I'm saying.

Silent Hill Could Officially Return In This Week’s PlayStation 5 Reveal

"The two most likely times will be in August/September," they continued. "August there is planned a State of Play in response to Microsoft's July event with new announcements. September there's a thing planned around TGS. I don't know specifically, I'll tweet when I do."

The most substantial piece of Silent Hill we've seen in recent years is the inclusion of Pyramid Head in Dead By Daylight. That was a nice nod from Konami to horror fans everywhere, but let's hope the publisher can do a little better than that and bring the franchise back for real on next-gen consoles.
