Classic PlayStation game Spyro the Dragon is to be remastered and rereleased, according to reports.
According to news outlet Kotaku 'multiple sources familiar with the project' the remaster is set to include the original trilogy of Spyro the Dragon, Ripto's Rage! and Year of the Dragon and, according to the source, is likely to feature content cut from the older games.

The source also revealed the new Spyro will feature improved graphics, a remastered soundtrack and other enhancements, with developer Vicarious Visions already working on the game.

An unnamed source told Kotaku Activision will formally announce the release in March this year with a possible launch date of September, which would be neatly in line with the game's 20th anniversary.
The source added that it will initially be available for PlayStation 4, before later launching on other platforms.

The leak comes following the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy reboot, which was released last year and became a best-seller.
