The ‘Days Gone’ Survival Mode Strips Out Fast Travel, Maps, And Survival Vision
After Days Gone releases on April 26, Sony and developer Bend Studio plan to release a string of free DLC to plump out the open world zombie game. Chief among these releases is the extra hard survival mode.
At launch, Days Gone will have an easy, medium, and hard mode, which will alter the challenge of enemies, the availability of supplies, and the savagery of the seasons. But in June the team is going to release survival mode. The new mode makes the enemies more difficult, sure, but it also takes out fast travel and survival vision (Days Gone's take on detective vision in the Arkham games).
On top of that, survival mode will take away your map and on-screen indicators of what direction to take. All of this is to "further immerse players and ratchet up the tension to make this the definitive survival experience," game director Jeff Ross says in a blog post.
As well as survival mode, each week of June will bring other additions - a new bike, horde, and combat challenge. We'll be getting a heads up as to what those new features will be closer to the time.
