'The Last Of Us Part II' Gameplay Reveal Event Coming This Month
It's been a while since Naughty Dog deigned to show us The Last Of Us Part II in action. The last time we really saw anything substantial on the hotly-anticipated PS4-exclusive was well over a year ago at E3 2018, via an intensely violent and seriously impressive gameplay demo in which an older, angrier Ellie cut a bloody swathe through her enemies using a combination of stealth and makeshift weapons.
It's been pretty quiet on The Last Of Us Part II front since then, aside from the odd comment here and there from the voice actors and studio promising that the game will be Naughty Dog's most ambitious work to date. The good news is that it looks like we're going to be getting an extended look at the game at the end of this month.
Geoff Keighley (that bloke from Death Stranding) recently tweeted that we can look forward to a reveal event for The Last Of Us Part II in sunny LA on September 24, during which members of the press will be getting the chance to go hands-on with the title for the first time. As such, we can surely expect tons of coverage and new details on the game once the various embargoes lift.

While we wait for exact details we drop, a recent GameStop Manager's Conference offered us some clues as to what we can expect. The footage that was showed off privately at the event was described by someone in attendance as a "very short, but a great slice of vertical gameplay." Before said post was ultimately deleted, the same user went on to reveal that the footage was focused on stealth and how the player can "use Clickers to your advantage."
We haven't actually seen the zombie-like Clickers in The Last Of Us Part II yet, though their presence has of course been hinted at in a few of the trailers so far. It sounds like the new system which allows you to utilise clickers to your own ends expands on the feature that was introduced in the Left Behind DLC for the first The Last Of Us, in which Ellie could cause distractions to lure hordes of Clickers towards human enemies, allowing them to finish each other off while Ellie hid in relative safety.
Whatever Naughty Dog has in store for the gameplay event, you can be certain that it'll bring the hype for The Last of Us Part II to breaking point. Let's just hope all that sweet gameplay finally comes with a release date.
