'The Lord Of The Rings' Star Visits Animal Crossing Island For Wholesome Adventure
Is there anyone out there who doesn't own a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons at this point? Nintendo's charming island life sim has been a tremendous success since releasing last month, offering a colourful and relaxing escape at the time where we all needed it most.
It's no surprise then, that a host of stars are frequently posting about their love for the game. I saw blink-182's Mark Hoppus recently boast about finishing the fossil display at the museum, for example, and we all know Brie Larson is a huge fan of the franchise. But I don't think anyone would expect one of these famous faces to just turn up on their Animal Crossing island out of the blue.
Still, that's exactly what happened when the wonderful Elijah Wood, star of The Lord Of The Rings and some of the weirdest indie films you'll ever see, visited another player's island in search of fruit. Not only did Wood show up, though, he was also incredibly polite during his visit.
It all started, as EW report, when 23 year-old Jessica Kovalick put out a tweet letting her followers know that her turnip prices were at an eye-watering high. For those that don't know, buying turnips on a Sunday and then selling them later on in the week is by far the quickest way to make money in New Horizons. Usually you can buy them for around 90-110 Bells per turnip and flip them for anywhere between 125-200... but every now and again you'll have an incredible turnip price.

When this happens, the best among us put out the call and let others know so that they can come to the town with the high prices, sell their stock and share in the wealth. And so it was that Jessica alerted the world that her town was buying turnips for 599(!) apiece.
Obviously, folk were quick to take her up on her offer and flooded her island. Of course, she never expected that Elijah Wood would catch wind of her thriving economy and request permission to fly over. But fly over he did, and was a model guest the entire time.
He complemented Jessica's island, and even asked before he picked fruit from her trees. I've had guests come over who run rampant over my town and pillage it for all its worth before leaving me with nothing... so it's lovely to see Wood show us all that common courtesy hasn't completely died out.
I can only hope that the next time I'm blessed with a high turnip price, Mr Wood will come to my island and tell me how beautiful it is. I didn't know I needed that until today. Now it's all I can think about.
