There Is Going To Be A ‘Peaky Blinders’ Virtual Reality Game

Last month we learned that there was a Peaky Blinders game in development for next year. We're still waiting to hear more details about that - will it be a GTA-style take on the Birmingham-based gang or a management sim where you fix bookies and grab territory up and down The Cut? - but in the mean time, we've learned about a whole other Peaky Blinders game. This newly announced title will be a virtual reality game.

According to a press release sent to us, the project will be a "virtual reality drama game" that is "using Artificial Intelligence technology: launching in 2020, it will mean that for the first time, characters will respond according to the players' gestures, movement, voice, sound and body language." Which certainly sounds like if you make an 'Up yours' gesture to one of the Shelby's then you'll be in for a stabbing.

In the game you will be trying to a complete a mission for the Shelby's to earn your cap and join the Peaky Blinders.

The Peaky Blinders VR game is on track to be released in Spring 2020, so we've a while to wait until we can play it ourselves. Hopefully more of the game will be shown off over the next year.

It's exciting to see so many games being drawn from the rich Peaky Blinders world, maybe it marks the beginning of a number of BBC series getting the game treatment. Downton Abbey as a management game? Line of Duty as a Telltale-style adventure game? Newsnight as a beat 'em up? The possibilities are endless.

What BBC series would you like to see turned into a game? Let us know on Facebook and Twitter.

Correction: This story initially confused the game announced last month and the VR game as the same title.
