The Switch Remake Of ‘Zelda: Link’s Awakening’ Has A Release Date
Having been first revealed back in February's Nintendo Direct, we now know that the Switch remake of the Game Boy classic The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, will be released onto Nintendo's hit hybrid console on 20 September 2019.
The surreal spin-off from the mainline Zelda games sees its regular hero, Link, washing up on the shores of a mysterious island. With a musical theme running through it before Ocarina of Time really made good on the whole, you-know-how-to-whistle-don'tcha-Link mechanic, and featuring a massive fish sort of being on top of a mountain (as you do), Link's Awakening was an instant smash upon its release in 1993. It also received a Game Boy Color update in 1998.
But this.. This is something else. And it looks amazing! In motion, it's just gorgeous, and we need it, like, tomorrow. But sure, we'll wait until September.
No more story spoilers from us, here, but Link's Awakening is a really unique entry in its series, inspired no less by Twin Peaks. And the Switch version includes a make-your-own dungeon option, which is pretty cool!
The Direct also revealed that a full-blown sequel to 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is currently in development, and we might have done a squeal. No might about it.
