This Fan’s Harry Potter Theme Park In ‘RollerCoaster Tycoon 2’ Is Magical
One of the joy of pre-internet gaming was that you could believe you were good at a game without being presented with the evidence that you're a tadpole in an ocean of better players. I used to think I was good at RollerCoaster Tycoon but Mama_Glitter has disillusioned me of that fact. Just look at their magical take on a Harry Potter theme park and be in awe.
The park is vast, filled with 83 rides, 172 stores, and a whole bunch of scenery. Yet, I find whenever I zoom in on a different part of the park it's immediately clear what it's supposed to be.
It's a marvelous thing to behold.
But let's take a closer look. Here's the Weasley home at The Burrow, notice the blue Ford Anglia, the flying car that can fit eight people, six trunks, two owls, and a rat comfortably:
Or the Quidditch Pitch with its tall colourful towers representing the school's different houses:
Or Hogsmeade, the village that only Third Years and above are allowed to visit, and which Harry first went with the aid of the invisibility cloak. Most importantly, it's wear you can neck a pint of butterbeer.
Most importantly of all, here's what Hogwarts looks like after it's had the theme park treatment:
You can make out the Great Hall, the homes of the different houses, and the route out to Hagrid's hut.
The whole park is an incredibly intricate piece of work and it's worth exploring, either through the large image, the gallery of highlights assembled by Mama_Glitter, or you could just play it for yourself. Mama_Glitter has uploaded the whole park to be downloaded and played by everyone. It was made in OpenRCT2, so you don't need to have a copy of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 to get it working.
