Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season One is released today with an absolute shedload of free content - the biggest free content drop in Call of Duty, as it would happen.

The folk at Infinity Ward made bold claims ahead of the release, saying we can expect their 'most ambitious season of content ever'.

Season One will be full to the brim with maps, including three new multiplayer maps: Crash, Vacant and Shipment - all of which are from Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

It will also be receiving a brand new Ground War map called Port, which is set in and around... well, a port.

Along with two new Gunfight maps called Cargo and Atrium, there's also an intriguing promise from creators of all those 'and more'.

Meanwhile, two new weapons will be arriving in the form of RAM-7, a bullpup style rifle, and the Holger-26. They're both variants of popular guns that have previously appeared in CoD. RAM-7 is essentially the TAR-21 from Modern Warfare 2, while Holger-26 is a variant of the MG36 from Modern Warfare 3.

Finally, there's new Spec-Ops content in the form of Bomb Squad, Grounded, Just Reward, Pitch Black and more. There's that mysterious 'and more' again. You absolute tease.

Activision

While Activision has warned that some of the content might not be available just yet, as some of it will drop after Season One's release today, the video game giant has suggested some more surprise additions might also be heading our way. Some of the 'more' they keep mentioning, eh?

When the roadmap dropped a few days back, a blog post on the Activision website said: "All Call of Duty players can look forward to Season One content releasing on all platforms at the same time. That's right; get ready for everyone to enjoy all of the new content together, while continuing to play together through crossplay and cross progression."

It added: "Note that some of this content may drop later than the Season One start date of December 3, and additional content may be added to Season One.

"Check back here on December 3 where we'll fully reveal the 100 tiers of the Battle Pass and reveal Season One in much greater detail.

"Until then... Stay frosty."
