‘Toss A Coin To Your Witcher’ Has Been Added To ‘Beat Saber’
If you're coming out of the Christmas season bloated with food, wine, and good cheer then you may be looking to burn off a few pounds. That good cheer is notoriously difficult to shake from the hips. You may also have Netflix's The Witcher rattling about your head. The series came out just before Christmas and by all accounts - by which I mean our Mike's review - it's pretty darn good. What better way to combine your new love of The Witcher with your post-Christmas war on weight than to play 'Toss A Coin To Your Witcher' in Beat Saber?
Alright, I'll back up a bit. In Netflix's The Witcher there's a character called Jaskier, a bard by trade, which means he travels the world annoying people with a lute. Closing out the second episode of the Netflix program, Jaskier plays a song called 'Toss A Coin To Your Witcher', which tells of Jaskier's travels with Geralt of Rivia. It's a pretty catchy tune - though, perhaps not one to crack out at karaoke.
The track's not available to stream through music services like Google Music but it has been added to Beat Saber, the virtual reality rhythm game. It's a game where your two motion controllers become energy swords in your hands, and you use them to cut through different coloured blocks that race towards you in time with the music.
With that all explained, here's what it looks like in the game (click here if you're reading this on mobile):
Now, while bards are almost universally annoying and deserving of the chop, I've got to say, in this case, that Jaskier lad has come through with a banger and it's going to worm its way even more deeply into our collective memories if we start tying the song down with muscle memory.
Let's hope the second season of The Witcher brings with it another new tune.
