'Undead Nightmare 2' Is Being Made By 'RDR2 Modders', And It Looks Ace
Undead Nightmare will probably go down as one of the greatest examples of DLC of all time. A truly excellent expansion for the original Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare was an undead-flavoured Western romp. One that saw our hero John Marston thrown into a non-canonical fight for his life against hordes of rotting corpses.
It was great. It was really, really bloody great. It was so great, in fact, that it's an absolute tragedy that Rockstar has no intention of giving us another, similar single-player DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2.
Unfortunately though, that's just where Rockstar is at when it comes to DLC. The developer has made it abundantly clear in recent years that it prefers to focus on updates for GTA Online and Red Dead Online, rather than create new single-player experiences for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
While it does undeniably suck that we'll probably never see an official Undead Nightmare 2, we at least have modders to give us a taste of something similar. I've said it many times before, but God bless the modding community. Always doing what the developer won't.

A new video uploaded by by jedijosh920 shows off a fan-created zombies minigame in Red Dead Redemption 2 that's as close as we're ever likely to get more Western zombie action. The 12-minute video, which you can see below, retools Red Dead Redemption 2's horrifying Night Folk as shambling reanimated corpses to be cut down by Arthur Morgan.
Watching Arthur sprint through the dark and rainy town as zombies appear from behind houses and come sprinting towards him is truly excellent. Granted, the mod currently reuses existing assets - hence the Night Folk - but the mysterious knife-wielding enemies already look a lot like zombies. So, if you squint, this could be the real deal. I mean, we know it isn't, but it's nice to pretend... right?
The bad news is that the mod isn't completely finished yet, or even available to download and try out for yourself. If you're interested on tracking the progress of this one though, and you should be, then you can do so by joining the Red Dead Redemption 2 modding Discord.
Who knows? Maybe this Undead Nightmare 2 mod will prove so popular that Rockstar is moved to make the real thing. No, I know that won't actually ever happen, but dreaming never hurt anyone.
