Rick Grimes' Final Episodes Shown In New Walking Dead Season 9 Trailer
Rick Grimes, the protagonist in AMC's zombie series The Walking Dead, will be exiting the show next season - and his final moments are captured within this new trailer.
Well, not his 'final final' moments, but we know that good old Rick will only appear in a few Season 9 episodes rather than the whole thing, so don't take his upcoming screen time for granted.
The new trailer, which you can watch above, suggests many years have passed since the Season 8 finale, just like it did within The Walking Dead comics [via GameSpot]. At first, the new settlements actually seem rather peaceful, but obviously this wouldn't be the case for long.
Grimes is seen debating his leadership with none other than Negan, who's seemingly locked in a prison cell. Plus, we get our first glimpse at the Whisperers - a group of survivors from the comics who mask themselves in a roamer skin to blend in and not get noticed.
It also seems as if Grimes' downfall is the result of the communities, who initially came together to overthrow Negan, turning against him - including some of his closest allies. Maggie, Carol, Michone, and Daryl all tease that there's an inner-conflict overshadowing the group, but we'll just have to wait and see what it could all mean.
Andrew Lincoln has starred as zombie slaying survivor Rick Grimes since the show began in 2010, but it's not clear whether he'll be killed off entirely. Maggie, played by Lauren Cohan, is also set to leave the show - although she told GameSpot she could make a return.
She said: "It feels like the greatest way to honour it is to keep it open-ended because whether it's about me going back as Maggie or whether it's about me just taking in, absorbing, and honouring everything I've learned there."
What do you think about this trailer? Are you looking forward to Rick's demise? What else do you want to happen? Let us know.
The Walking Dead Season 9 will begin on 31 October on AMC.
