If you're a Manchester United fan and love PES, then you're probably sick of having to play as 'Man Red' and turning out in the 'Trad Brick Stadium'. Well, Red Devils fans can rejoice (it might be the only time you can this year) as Man Utd have officially been licensed in Pro Evolution Soccer 2020.

The deal struck between the sleeping giants and Konami means that club legends such as David Beckham and (three-lunged) Park Ji-Sung and the iconic Old Trafford stadum will feature more prominently across the game.

Scott McTominay, who emerged as a first teamer last season, has become an official PES 2020 ambassador too, Konami said.

Despite having arguably better gameplay than FIFA, PES has always suffered with a lack of licensed teams which continues to stop them from tempting fans to switch over. Being able to team up with potentially the world's biggest club is surely going to help turn even the most die hard FIFA fans.

PES 2020 has virtually recreated the Theatre of Dreams as well as full-body 3D scanning members of the team including wantaway midfield megastar Pogba and tricky winger Anthony Martial.

There's even a new mode called 'Matchday' which "will allow MUFC fans to come together for weekly events to compete in the biggest matches and secure victory against the club's biggest rivals".

In an attempt to get people to try out Pro Evolution Soccer, Konami made their 2019 edition free on July's PlayStation Plus games. At this moment in time PES is still in the shadow of FIFA, but maybe this news is just the start a gigantic shift.

While we're away from the years where the rivalry between PES and FIFA was at its height, the series is still a strong contender each year. What you get with FIFA is licensed team names and a story mode, with PES you get a more challenging game, one where goals are more hard earned.

If you still aren't tempted to join the PES revolution then you can find out all the latest on FIFA 20 here. It includes a new mode, not too dissimilar from the once popular FIFA street called VOLTA and will be coming to your consoles and PC sooner than you think.

It remains to be seen how much of an impact the partnership with Manchester United will have on the football sim underdog, but the way we see it, the more licenses the better.

PES 2020 is released in September.
