Experts Are Saying The iPhone 7 Is Bullshit And You Should Wait For Next Year's Model

Another year, another iPhone.

Another year, another iPhone. Tonight, Tim Cook will unveil the seventh generation of Apple's flagship phone.

There will soon be hundreds of articles written about the new features, advert after advert to tell you that buying it will make you a happier person, and thousands of Apple fanboys queuing up to get it on release day.

But outside all that, some tech insiders are advising people to skip this year and wait for iPhone 8.

Analysts have suggested that this year's update is only a tweak of last year's model - and the big changes are coming next year.

Jan Dawson (mum???), an analyst at Jackdaw Research, said: "It looks like part of the reason they are keeping the design the same this year is there are bigger changes they are working on for next year."

Chetan Sharma, a mobile analyst, said: "If it's just more memory and a slightly better camera, then there's less motivation [to upgrade].

"This year might just be a small bump in terms of the upgrade cycle."

One of the reasons for this is that customers now tend to upgrade their phones every three years, rather than every two. This means companies are less motivated to bring in big updates to their phone every year.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo - who has a decent record of predicting how iPhone models will look - has said that will move to a new 'all glass' look in 2017. In which case it might be worth waiting till next year.

Ming-Chi Kuo told MacRumors: "If iPhone 7 still uses an aluminium casing in 2016, it will be the fifth year in a row that iPhone has done so, which means there is no longer a feeling of freshness to appeal to consumers.

"Also, a lot of Apple's (US) competitors are also adopting aluminium casings, which means iPhone no longer has a clear edge due to a lack of differentiation.

"On expectations that iPhone shipments will decline in 2016, we believe Apple will be more strongly motivated to use non-aluminium casings in 2017 in a bid to enhance the competitiveness of iPhone by offering an all-new form-factor design."

With this all said, though, if you're one of those people who feels like they're half-a-person if they don't have the most up-to-date gadgets then you'll probably buy it anyway, won't you? Who gives a shit if it's essentially the same as the last version, it's an iPhone 7 and new and it's shiny!
