Good news, Xbox Live is now back up and running after being down earlier today.

The issue was first reported earlier today and appeared to mainly be impacting Xbox One users, who were throwing their controllers at the wall en masse (I imagine).

But don't worry, you don't need to resort to digging out your old PS3 to get your gaming fix, as Microsoft has confirmed it's back up and running again.

Taking to social media, some said that they were unable to get past the home page and were just met with a black screen, which, as you can imagine, is pretty bloody frustrating.

The outage was pretty widespread, with Xbox users from across the UK and Europe as well as the US complaining about being unable to access the system.

Xbox kept fans up to date via its social media channels and a tweet from its parent company, Microsoft, has since confirmed it's now safe to go back online.

Taking to social media, many gamers vented that they were unable to get online and demanded that the company fix the problem asap.

One wrote: "There is social breakdown happening. People can't go outside because #MinnesotaWeather its -60 outside!"

Another angry gamer wrote: "I have had my Xbox One for just over a year and it isn't working wtf I use to have faith in you time to switch to PlayStation. Hundreds of dollars in games and Xbox's down the drain."

While another fumed: "Totally UNACCEPTABLE that our @Xbox systems (I own a One X) @XboxP3 is BRICKED because your service is down! I can't play games I OWN or access a system I OWN because you are using Live as DRM. ADDRESS THE ISSUE."

Yikes. Good job it's all back up and running, eh?
