Jake Paul given same important advice by fans after announcing Netflix fight with Mike Tyson

Fans have been quick to offer tips to the influencer turned boxer.

It was announced earlier today that Jake Paul will face off against boxing legend Mike Tyson on 20 July.

The bout would be held at the AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas, and it will be live streamed on Netflix for all subscribers of the streaming platform.

Netflix released the first trailer for the match-up, which can be viewed below:

Also known as 'The Problem Child' or 'El Gallo', Jake Paul has taken his boxing career very seriously in the past few years, building up an impressive record of 9-1, including six KOs.

Initially beginning by fighting influencers and non-boxers, his last couple of bouts have been against actual pro boxers, managing to knockout Ryan Bourland in round one on 2 March.

Paul even stated it was 'time to put Iron Mike to sleep' on X.

It goes without saying that Mike Tyson is one of the most legendary boxers and athletes in history, breaking onto the scene as the youngest ever heavyweight champion at just 20, going on to have a career that would consist of 37 straight wins at one point, including 33 KOs.

Following the announcement, fans have been quick to issue Jake with some advice on social media.

Tyson and Paul shared a tense face-off in the trailer.

They were quick to remind Jake of an incident in 1997, when Tyson faced Evander Holyfield for the WBA Heavyweight Championship.

One user commented: "Wear ear protection...," with the eyes emoji.

Another said: "JAKE PAUL ABT TO MEET HIS MAKER *better wear some ear guards," accompanied with a GIF of Tyson laughing.

A third put: "Two words for Jake Paul: ear protection".

All of these comments are in reference to Tyson's actions in the aforementioned fight, when he bit Holyfield's ear after his opponent had head butted him a few times in the fight.

Tyson bit a one inch piece of cartilage from the top of his right ear and spat it out, causing a scuffle in the ring, though the fight would continue after this.

He also bit Holyfield's left ear later in the fight, but even though he didn't rip a piece off that time, the fight was finally halted after officials discovered the second bite.

Holyfield was then announced as the winner, meaning he retained his heavyweight title, though with less of his right ear.

As a result, Tyson had his pro boxing licence revoked until it was reinstated over a year later, and had to pay a $3 million (£2.35 million) fine and legal fees.

The two later became close friends after retiring, even joining forces to start business venture 'Holy Ears', which were edible cannabis sweets in the shape of Holyfield's ear, featuring a funny Christmas promotion ad.

Hatchet well and truly buried.

Even though it does look like Tyson has left his erratic years behind him, Paul might have to be on the look out for similar unpredictable stunts in the ring.

Mike Tyson v Jake Paul will be available to livestream by all Netflix subscribers on 20 July.
