Dog Has Tip Of Tongue Cut Off By Mistake During Haircut

Over lockdown there have been a few questionable haircuts knocking around but none worse than this dog in Brazil who had part of his tongue sliced away.

The poor pooch called Scott (anything better than pets with human names?) was having his mop chopped in a pet shop situated in Sao Paulo on 11 November.

At one point during the trim, Scott started to squirm and the groomer accidentally cut off the tip of his tongue.

Owner Vanda Souza expressed her fury on Facebook, writing: "Today we took him for a trim, and when I went to pick him up, this is what I came across. They cut his tongue. My heart can't take all this sadness. I even paid for this because they charged me. Unbelievable!

"He was always a happy dog. Today my dog's eyes are weeping from pain and fear. He still hasn't eaten or even drunk. Take care of your animals. Take them to whoever does their job lovingly. My Scott, my boy, my four-legged son, I want justice."

Souza's post has since gone viral and has been shared 22,000 times.

Local media have not named the person that cut Scott's hair or the business. However, they have said the person responsible is the owner of the pet shop and she is very upset about what happened.

Just last year another woman was left horrified when she went to pick her dog up from the groomer and found it had gone terribly wrong.

The owner, Hannah, tweeted to explain what happened, writing: "Ok so my dog was way over due for a haircut so finally we took him to a new grooming place to get it done.

"We said 'He needs to be shaved just ENOUGH so he wouldn't shed as much anymore'. They took the shaving part literally. YALL THE SECOND PICTURE I CANT."

Of course, many people were quick to warn Hannah and others against shaving huskies in such a way.

Someone who said they were a certified groomer wrote: "Any professional groomer knows not to shave down a double coat because it ruins the dogs insulation & cooling system. This isn't ur fault or abuse just a misunderstanding. If you need pointers on products 2 use dm me!"

However, in later updates, Hannah assured us all her dog was 'completely fine', despite his unfortunate haircut.
