Wetherspoon now serving 'worst drink in the world' as new cocktail is added to menu

You'll definitely need to bring your sweet tooth

Appletiser, anyone? Wait, what did you say? Bubble-tiser?

No, it's not a bad joke about a particularly fizzy drink, or the name of a cocktail-inspired bath bomb. Instead, it's a new item that's arrived on the menu at Wetherspoon.

The iconic pub chain is already home to a range of cocktails, and anyone who's ever opted for entire pitcher of the stuff will know they're a popular choice.

Spoons does have a few more sour drinks to choose from - I'm looking at you, Tommy's Margarita - but most of the more fruity, colourful cocktails are already known for being sweet. That's why they're so dangerously easy to drink.

But the Bubbletiser takes that to a whole new level, because it's literally inspired by a sweet. A fruity, chewy, straight-from-your-childhood sweet.

In case the name didn't get it away, allow me to share the ingredients.

With bubblegum-flavoured vodka as its base, the cocktail features bubblegum syrup and apple juice, before being topped with lemonade for a little added sugar boost, as if there wasn't enough going on in there already.

Just writing that made my teeth hurt - it's definitely not for everyone.

After coming across the cocktail listed in the 'Signature Cocktails' section of the Spoons menu, one Reddit user snapped a photo of the drink and wrote: "Can we all agree these are some of the worst looking signature cocktails out there?"

Things didn't get much better over on Twitter, where one user posted a picture of the Bubbletiser and wrote: "Regret to inform everyone that wetherspoons is now serving the worst drink in the world."

"Oh NO absolutely not," one horrified person responded, while another simply added: "CLOSE IT DOWN."

It has to be said, though, the drink has got a few people intrigued.

One Reddit user admitted they were 'really curious how apple and bubblegum go together', while another argued the Bubbletiser 'actually sounds great'.

One person indicated they'd actually tried the drink, and while they didn't exactly give it rave reviews, it wasn't bad enough to warrant the title of the 'worst drink in the world'.

The Reddit user, who implied they worked at the pub, wrote: "This is a trial menu being put out across Wetherspoon pubs in the UK. All of the signature cocktails are from what we already had behind the bar that we weren't selling enough of. The bubbletiser sounds rank but isn't too awful."

I guess there's only one way we'll know for sure. Spoons, anyone?

Wetherspoon has declined to comment on the drink.
