It's no secret that Vin Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson have had beef for the last decade throughout the production of the Fast and Furious films. But does anybody know what it's actually about?

Johnson confirmed this week that he won't be in any more Fast films, which has left fans wondering if he and Diesel have had another squabble. The Rock's bounty-hunting federal agent character Luke Hobbs made his debut in 2011 in Fast Five. Since then, the star has featured in Fast 6 and 7, as well as The Fate of the Furious and of course the spin-off movie, Hobbs and Shaw.

Johnson didn't return for Fast 9, which was released in June 2021, due to filming clashes with Hobbs and Shaw. He'd previously made it sound like he'd left his options open for future Fast films, but has now confirmed he'll be walking away.

It's not clear at this moment in time whether he'll star in any more spin-offs (as long as Vin Diesel isn't in them maybe?).

Why Do Vin Diesel And Dwayne Johnson Have Beef?

In a June Men's Health issue promoting F9, Vin Diesel basically said that Johnson's performance in previous Fast films was down to him (as a producer) and his "tough love" tactics.

He said: "I could give a lot of tough love.

"Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I'd have to do in order to get performances in anything I'm producing."

Responding to the comments made, Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter: "I laughed and I laughed hard. I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I'll leave it at that."

"And that I've wished them well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me."

But that isn't the first instance of Johnson and Diesel clashing.

In 2016, when The Fate of the Furious was being filmed, Jonson told TMZ how his male co-stars were unprofessional "candy asses."

He said: "My female co-stars are always amazing and I love 'em. My male co-stars however are a different story."

"Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones that don't are too chicken sh*t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses."

He then went on to add: "When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling-you're right." Yikes.

He didn't name names, but fans speculated that it was Diesel Johnson was referring to.

In 2017, when Fast and Furious 7 was confirmed, sources close to the actors told TMZ that they'd squished the beef adn that it was potentially over "real estate" which is movie lingo for who gets the biggest action scene, who shows their body off the most, who gets the hottest girl etc... basically how much the actor shines in the movie.

So basically what this boils down to is two big Hollywood egos not seeing eye to eye.

As for Johnson's near future, he's just wrapping up on Black Adam and is due to start filming for Disney's Jungle Cruise with Emily Blunt soon.
