Margot Robbie's husband told he 'cannot answer' awkward question about watching his wife with Ryan Gosling

Margot Robbie's husband told he 'cannot answer' awkward question about watching his wife with Ryan Gosling

He was asked a rather awkward question on the red carpet

Margot Robbie’s husband Tom Ackerley was asked a rather awkward question about his wife and her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling.

Robbie and British film producer Ackerley met on the set of war drama Suite Française back in 2013, where he worked behind the camera as an assistant director.

The pair, who prefer to keep their marriage out of the limelight, tied the knot in 2016.

As well as being hitched, the couple co-set up LuckyChap Entertainment - a production company that has worked on a slew of hit movies including I, Tonya and Saltburn, as well as last year’s wildly popular flick Barbie.

The record-smashing film has been nominated for eight Oscars, including the coveted Best Picture award, a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Gosling and a Best Supporting Actress award for America Ferrera - although, somewhat controversially, Robbie did not receive a Best Actress nomination.

The move caused a bit of furore with Robbie fans, with several branded the lack of nomination as a 'snub' on the part of the Oscars, while someone else said they 'can't believe Margot Robbie was overlooked'.

Ackerley served as a producer on Barbie and during a red carpet last year was asked to share his thoughts on his wife’s on-screen partnership with Gosling.

In the clip, a reporter from The Upcoming speaks to Ackerley and fellow Barbie producer David Heyman about what it was like to work on the flick.

The reporter then asked: “Margot and Ryan - weren’t they perfect in this?”

At this point Heyman cut in to jokingly say: “He can’t say but I will say, yes.”

After which, Ackerley laughed and added: “Great combination.”

Robbie has previously joked about being pretty disappointed that she didn’t get to lock lips with her handsome co-star.

As their characters are dolls, the pair didn’t share any on screen romantic scenes - something her pals thought was a bad idea.

In an interview with People, she was asked if she was pleased that the two didn’t have to kiss, to which she cheekily responded: “Uh, no! That didn’t feel like a win for me.”

Robbie, who was a producer on the movie, went on: “All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well, you did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!’

“I was like, ‘I know, I can’t check that one off [my list]’.”
