There are too many different things to spot in Oscars 2024 class photo

There are too many different things to spot in Oscars 2024 class photo

There's plenty going on in the Oscars class photo

Remember how near the end of each school year, they'd make you line up on benches in the sports hall so you could have a picture taken of your entire year?

Yeah, it turns out they do that at the Oscars too.

They get as many of the nominees as possible and stick them all together for a big class photo.

This one's the class of 2024, and you're looking at the great and good of Hollywood all congregated together for a big photo opportunity.

There's so much to see here, what catches your eye?.

Keeping up the British end

There's only a couple of British nominations up for the acting Oscars this year and both turned up for the picture.

If you want to play a celebrity version of Where's Wally you can spot Emily Blunt of Oppenheimer and Maestro's Carey Mulligan in the class photo.

Fortunately they're not in direct competition with each other as Blunt is going for the Best Supporting Actress gong while Mulligan has the Best Actress statue in her sights.

Best of luck!

The accidental winners

And the winner is... La La Land. Wait, no!

It's not exactly one of the finest moments in Oscars history, that time when they announced the wrong Best Picture winner.

Back in 2017, the Best Picture award went to Moonlight but there was one hell of a confusing moment when Warren Beatty was handed the wrong envelope, the one that said Emma Stone had won Best Actress for La La Land, and she was accidentally declared the movie the winner.

There was a little bit of a La La Land reunion in the class picture as Stone and Ryan Gosling were spotted together, and they're both up for awards again this time.

Emma Stone is in line for the Best Actress gong for Poor Things while Gosling could pick up a Best Supporting Actor award for Barbie.

Smile for the camera!

Anatomy of a Fall and Barbie directors Arthur Harai and Greta Gerwig appeared unable to keep a straight face for the photo.

More than a few famous faces in the crowd appeared to be laughing or posing right as the class photo was taken.

You can see Anatomy of a Fall director Arthur Harai losing his composure n camera while Barbie boss Greta Gerwig can't help but look over and laugh as well.

Meanwhile, just over Harai's shoulder is Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy giving a masterclass in looking dead ahead and keeping it together, there's a reason he gets paid the big bucks to be in front of the camera.

The camera is that way...

It looks like nobody told her the picture was being taken right then.

There's always one, the picture gets taken and they're blinking or looking away and it has to be re-taken.

With so many people in the Oscars class photo that's basically not possible so if you're not looking at the camera when the picture is taken, tough.

This is part of the reason why the photographer ought to get everyone to say 'cheese' when the picture is being taken, not only does it get them to smile but it lets everyone know the time has come to look at the camera.

Perhaps she was looking at Laura Karpman who decided to wear two pairs of sunglasses indoors for the Oscars photo.

That would be understandable.

Billie Eilish rocking her own look

While plenty in the crowd had put on their Sunday best Billie Eilish decided to underline her style icon status with a yellow jacket and bandana.

She could pick up a second Oscar this year after winning her first a couple of years ago with her song in the James Bond movie No Time To Die.

Her song 'What Was I Made For?' in Barbie ended up scoring her a second nomination, though she's up against another song from the same movie in the form of 'I'm Just Ken'.

Will Eilish have Kenough in her to win a second Oscar?

This Barbie is Oscar nominated

She wasn't nominated for Best Actress but Margot Robbie could still win an Oscar for Barbie.

The Oscars caused quite a stir when Margot Robbie wasn't nominated for Best Actress, but it did pick up nods in a number of other categories.

You'll be able to spot Robbie in the class photo, and that's because she'll still walk away with an Oscar if Barbie wins Best Picture.

If that happens and Greta Gerwig picks up an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay they'll be able to dance the night away in style.

Run! It's Godzilla!

The visual effects team for Godzilla Minus One have been representing the king of monsters by bringing him along to the photoshoots.

If you look in the bottom left of the main picture you'll be able to see Takashi Yamazaki holding his Godzilla figurine up for the camera, check out the blue spines on the back of the beast.

Godzilla Minus One could win the Best Visual Effects Oscar, so perhaps we'll see the figurines make it all the way onto the Academy Awards stage.

Where was the dog?

Messi the dog, if there was an Oscar for Goodest Boy he'd win it.

Despite all the glitz and glamour of the Oscars, there was one performer who attended the luncheon but didn't make it into the class photo for reasons we cannot fathom, because what picture isn't improved by having a dog in it?

It's a very sad exclusion because if he was in the Best Actor category he'd definitely win because he really is the best.

This is Messi, not the famous footballer but the dog that appeared in Anatomy of the Fall.

Fortunately the Academy can make it up to Messi by letting his film win some of the five Oscar nominations it's picked up.

What else can you spot in the picture?
