Ricky Gervais announces details of his 'biggest deal ever' that could make him fortune

Ricky Gervais announces details of his 'biggest deal ever' that could make him fortune

He says it could make him 'hundreds of millions'

Ricky Gervais has shared details of the 'biggest contract of his life'.

You can hear the comic's announcement in full here:

Gervais is one of the most successful actors, writers, and comedians in history, I mean, you only have to look at the numbers from his last tour to see that.

The Office creator entered the Guinness Book of Records recently following his show at The Hollywood Bowl, which raked in over $1.75 million (£1.41m). Not bad for a night's work, eh?

And just a few weeks ago, he broke yet another, when he sold out his gig at Toronto’s 20,000 capacity Scotiabank Arena on 10 August, the biggest of any British comic in Canada.

But not content with dominating the stage, Gervais has now moved into the world of booze.

Following other stars, like Ryan Reynolds with his Aviation American Gin, the 62-year-old has launched a vodka line.

In a post to Twitter, Gervais announced he was now the proud co-owner of Ellers Farm Distillery, a carbon neutral BCorp distillery based in North Yorkshire that makes Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka.

He previously described the deal as the 'biggest contract of my life', but now, going into more detail about the new venture, a very honest Gervais told his fans: "I am thrilled to announce that I am now the proud co owner of Ellers farm distillery. And we make Dutch Barn vodka. It tastes great. It's made from British apples.

"We're committed to sustainability and the protection of the ecosystem. And the best thing is this could literally make me hundreds of millions, so please buy it.

"Yeah, sure, like all strong liquor, it may damage your liver and your well being, but think how happy it made me... so, and the saving the planet thing."

Fans praised Gervais for his very honest bit of marketing.

Following the announcement, the comic's followers praised him for his honesty.

One person said: "The most honest advertisement ever."

Another commented: "A great way to boost sales is to be honest about how much you are gonna make if the customers buy your product."

"Only YOU can do this and be liked by millions," put a third.

While someone else added: "Finally an ad that doesn't try to sell us a bunch of random values, but the actual product instead."

I mean, you can't deny it, like him or loathe him, the man knows how to get people's attention.
