EasyJet responds after Vicky Pattison is stopped from flying for 'breaking passport rules'

EasyJet responds after Vicky Pattison is stopped from flying for 'breaking passport rules'

The Geordie Shore star said she was left in tears at the airport

Vicky Pattison experienced every traveller's worst nightmare on Sunday (14 April) when she was prevented from boarding her flight for supposedly breaking passport rules.

The Geordie Shore star, 36, took to social media to explain how her 'dream' holiday had got off to a hellish start when easyJet staff refused to allow her on the plane with all of her pals.

She was heading to Italy from her hometown of Newcastle to visit a wedding venue ahead of her nuptials with The Only Way Is Essex cast member Ercan Ramadan in September.

Seen as though her big day is costing 'the same price as a house', Pattison obviously wanted to preview the place where she will be saying her I do's.

The Ex on the Beach alum explained she drastically dialled back her initial plans to have the 'wedding of the century' as she has been blown away by the costs - although, she will still be wearing four different dresses.

Pattison told Rock My Wedding: "I knew weddings were a big money business and, like I say, it's not my first rodeo in this space, but everything's just got more and more expensive. I was really shocked.

"I don't want to be paying it off for the next 10 years, or remortgaging my house for a wedding."

To keep costs down, Pattison and Ramadan decided to officially get hitched at Marylebone Town Hall with 100 people in attendance, before later flying to Italy for a welcome dinner, wedding ceremony and evening reception.

Unfortunately, it seems that despite the reality TV star's efforts to stick to her budget, she may have just ran into a load of unexpected costs after her ordeal in the airport.

Dubbing easyJet the 'destroyer of dreams', Pattison said she was left in tears after employees informed her they could not accept her passport as it would be in violation of strict rules surrounding the travel document.

Her dog had a good chew on it and caused some slight damage, so the staff refused to let her on the flight.

Pattison said she had to watch her 'wedding planner, her assistant, my florist, everyone' all go through while she was left high and dry in the airport.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the reality star said: "Thought we were off to see our wedding venue today, we were so excited. I rushed back from Newcastle, packed at midnight last night and jumped into bed and got 3 hours sleep.

"But I didn't mind because we were going for our menu tasting @ercan_ram. Only to have the @easyiet staff turn me away. I've been travelling with my passport all year and no one's said anything, but it's definitely well travelled to be fair.

"Company policy is company policy and I get it, I'm just beyond gutted you know?"

She then continued: "My wedding planner, her assistant, my florist, everyone are all heading out... And I'm just heading home... to have a really good cry I think.

"All the wasted money, how hard it was for me to get the time off, how excited we were, how I've wasted everyone's time.. I'm just really sad I think."

Pattison then uploaded a photo of her damaged passport to clarify the state of it for fans.

She wrote: "This is what was wrong with my passport for everyone asking, in fairness, I don't know if that is really bad or not, I've just not had anyone ever tell me it was before...cheeky little milo butt.

"Think rather than waste my glam, I'm going to take some new passport pictures, then cry..."

Following her social media posts, easyJet has now spoken out about the situation.

A spokesperson for the airline told MailOnline: "We are sorry for Ms Pattison’s experience and the inconvenience caused.

"At easyJet, we work closely with the authorities and comply with their guidance to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and staff.

"As such, we cannot allow any passenger to travel on their planned flight with documentation damaged to such a degree that its authenticity is brought into question.

"It is the passenger’s responsibility to have suitable documentation for travel."
