'First Dates': Woman Savages Guy's Moustache And The Tension Is Unbearable

“Are you going to keep it?”

I thought tension between North Korea and the USA might bring about end times, but shit me, the tension on First Dates can be harrowing.

In this episode, Hema and moustachioed Ajai meet up for a date - so far, so good. It seems to be going well as Ajai tells the waitress the food is great and Hema is lovely.

That's when we discover that Hema's in the bog, talking to a mate on her phone, and has been there about 15 minutes. Turns out she's not so keen on his moustache.

Watch how it unfolds below...

Looking at the thing, it's something else. It makes Bismarck's 'tache look limp; Lord Kitchener's on the conservative side. And there's a beard thrown in for good measure. And a pink bow-tie.

Luckily for our hirsute friend, things pick up after Hema has returned from the bathroom, though at one point she does ask, "Are you going to keep it?" Somehow he does not get the hint.

Still, the pair of them get on like a house on fire (but without the threat of death and singed hair), discussing big issues like what's better; having big bug eyes or lobster hands. Ajai says eyes - which is the wrong answer, but we'll forgive him - and they laugh like hyenas as the restaurant empties around them.

"Is Argos still open and can I get a ring?" he says to the cameras shortly after the date. Putting his facial topiary to one side for a moment, if you're going to buy a wedding ring from Argos, get a Braun razor while you're at it or SHE WILL NEVER LOVE YOU.

With the date over, the two are sat together and asked if they'd go out again, which isn't awkward at all. Ajai seems keen. Hema? Well...

"It's just that I've never done a moustache before."

Ouch. Bit forward if you ask me, but I might be interpreting what she means by that in a very filthy way. Ok, I am.

To be fair to Ajai, he takes the BRUTAL ASSESSMENT of his facial hair well and tries to laugh it off (not so well) and the two of them get into a cab and go 'into town'. So there's a happy ending of sorts. Boomting.
