​'Sons Of Anarchy' Spin-Off 'Mayans MC' Releases New Teaser Trailer

FX has released a new teaser trailer for Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans MC, featuring our first glimpse of Jax's grave.

The 30-second teaser trailer was posted by FX to social media with the caption: "Pay your respects. Ride with Mayans MC Sept 4 on FX."

It opens with a lingering shot of a grave for Jax, who rode to his death at the end of the final season of Sons of Anarchy to make the ultimate sacrifice. The wooden cross is adorned with a kitsch display of flowers, religious paraphernalia, skulls, notes and necklaces - along with a handwritten sign on which 'JAX' has been scrawled.

Panning out, the bikers who are seemingly paying their respects at Jax's grave then drive off into the sunset. Classic.

The long-awaited spin-off, which will premiere on 4 September, has actually been in the works for a while, initially announced in back in August 2015.

Originally, it was due to focus on recurring characters from Sons of Anarchy, but by July 2016, it was decided that the pilot was going to be completely redone, with a number of roles recast. Norberto Barba was then also brought in as an executive producer along side Kurt Stutter.

In picking up where the hit show left off in 2014, Mayans MC will explore what happened in the land of bikes, leather, violence and searing desert heat after Jax's death - with Fox having ordered 10 hour-long episodes for the first season to tell the next part of our tale.

FX released an official synopsis, which read: "Set in the aftermath of Jax Teller's death at the end of SOA's seven-season run in 2014, Mayans MC will focus on the struggles of Ezekiel 'EZ' Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border.

"EZ is the gifted son of a proud Latino family, whose American dream was snuffed out by cartel violence. Now, his need for vengeance drives him toward a life he never intended and can never escape."

Speaking about the new show, FX president of original programming Nick Grad, told the Hollywood Reporter: "Kurt Sutter is a master storyteller and Mayans MC has the raw energy and intensity that are hallmarks of his signature style.

"Thanks to Kurt, co-creator Elgin James and this amazing cast, Mayans MC builds on the legacy of Sons of Anarchy, taking it in a thrilling new direction that we can't wait for the world to see."
