Get ready for a big old dose of '90s nostalgia because the first trailer for The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers series on Disney+ has officially dropped.

The revamped Ducks team looks to have evolved into a cutthroat powerhouse youth hockey team, opposed to the ragtag originals we know and love.

But the big moment for fans will be seeing a familiar face in the form of Emilio Estevez.

The iconic actor is is reprising his role as Coach Gordon Bombay from the 1992 movie and its subsequent sequels.

This time around, the story is set in present-day Minnesota, with the trailer revealing that mum Alex (played by Lauren Graham) starts her own hockey team of misfits after her son Evan (Brady Noon) gets cut from the now super-competitive Mighty Ducks youth team.

"If you can't be great at hockey, it's like, don't bother," one of the Ducks coaches tells a disheartened Evan in the clip.

Enter Bombay (Estevez) - who is loitering around a rundown ice rink as Alex and Evan search for somewhere to practice.

He once again bestows some of his mighty wisdom on the youths to help them rediscover the joys of playing hockey simply.

Estevez starred in the original films.

"You gotta make this happen for yourself," Bombay is seen telling Charlie in the trailer.

Speaking to US Weekly in February last year following the announcement he would once again join the popular franchise, Estevez sounded pretty keen to once again hit the ice.

"Once a Duck, always a Duck!" he told the publication.

"After 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay's jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise."

Among some of the fresh faces to start in the 10-episode series are actors Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O'Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, and DJ Watts.

The original film starred Estevez as Coach Bombay, who was made to do community service in the form of coaching the Ducks against his former peewee coach from the Hawks.

The hugely popular film not only spawned two sequels in 1994 and 1996, but it also inspired an NHL team, who named themselves the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 1993 and are today known as the Anaheim Ducks.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers premieres on Disney+ Friday, March 26.
