How much headliners get paid for Glastonbury as fans have same complaint about announcement

How much headliners get paid for Glastonbury as fans have same complaint about announcement

It's not as much as you might think.

Have you ever wondered how much Glastonbury headliners get paid for their stints on the Pyramid Stage? You might be shocked by how little it is.

Glastonbury is one of the biggest festivals in the world.

Each year, an estimated 2.5 million people enter the race to try and nab one of the 210,000 tickets on offer for the five-day event.

For those lucky enough to secure their spot, the festival has just announced the acts for 2024.

And your headliners are... Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA and Shania Twain.

If you're desperate to see any of these guys take to the Pyramid stage, there still might be a chance to grab yourself a ticket despite the event selling out in November.

While you might think the headliners will be pulling in the big bucks for their appearances, that's not necessarily the case.

How much do Glastonbury headliners get paid?

Festival co-organiser Emily Eavis has previously shared that artists get paid less than 10 percent of what they would cash in at other festivals.

This is because the festival chooses to donate £2 million to charity every year that it runs.

Speaking to BBC Radio 6 in 2017, Eavis said: "We're not in a situation where we're able to just give people enormous amounts of money. So we're really grateful for the bands that we get, because they're basically doing it for the love of it."

Bestival organiser Rob Da Bank also previously revealed that Glastonbury's budget is less than £500,000 per headliner.

While the exact figure Dua Lipa and co will cash in is being kept under wraps, found Michael Eavis once revealed that Coldplay — who'll be headlining the event for the fifth time — were paid £200,000 for one of their past appearances.

Fans all have same complaint about 2024 Glastonbury line-up

But, X (Twitter) users aren't too impressed by the 2024 lineup and they all have the same complaint.

One person said: "How many bloody times have Coldplay headlined Glastonbury?"

Another wrote: "Coldplay need to pack it in."

And a third commented: "Imagine spending £360 on Glasto tickets to stand 1,000 deep in a field and then find out you’ve gotta watch Coldplay."

But, others were a lot more positive about the five-time headliners, with one person saying they're 'decent live' and others saying they'd be more than happy to take anyone complaining's ticket.

We second that!

Coldplay have actually set a record, as they're the first act to play the Pyramid stage five times, taking to the stage in 2002, 2005, 2011, 2016 and now 2024.
