New BBC Boiling Point series is leaving viewers feeling 'stressed'

The new show premiered on BBC One last night

The Boiling Point series is leaving viewers feeling 'stressed' already.

BBC’s new show premiered last night (1 October) and you can watch the trailer here:

This hotly-anticipated series is a spin-off to the one-shot feature film from 2021.

Starring Stephen Graham as the lead, it followed an ‘emotionally scarred London chef’ struggling to get his team through the last Friday before Christmas – the busiest and most stressful restaurant shift of the year.

The pretty intense film was a rollercoaster for viewers and (spoiler warning) ended with the chef, Andy, collapsed on the floor.

So we were still getting over all that when we found out there was a follow-up being made and this series picks up about six to eight months after.

The BBC said of the four-part drama: “Carly, who was the sous chef for Jones & Sons is now the head chef and co-owner of her brand-new restaurant called Point North. She's brought most of the team from Jones & Sons with her.

Graham had a starring role in the Boiling Point film.

“The series touches on social issues and things that are going on in the world, but it also really hones in on these individual characters and what they're going through.”

And, somewhat unsurprisingly, it’s just as tense as the film.

Following the first episode last night, viewers took to X to express their emotions as they were sucked into the kitchen.

One wrote: “Getting stressed out just watching the kitchen staff in Boiling Point.”

And one said: “Boiling point was an hour of pyar stress. Class first episode.”

The new series follows Carly as head chef.

As one even joked: “BBC Boiling Point is most definitely not light Sunday viewing. I feel stressed just watching - maybe the news will be more relaxing.”

Graham revealed he doesn’t feature as heavily in the new BBC series, which he told Graham Norton is ‘one of the finest things’ he’s been a part of.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show last week (29 September), he said: “There is not enough working-class drama on our screens and with our own production company we’re in a position to make that happen.

“This time I am not front and centre because we wanted to give others their moment in the sun.”

You can watch Boiling Point now on BBC iPlayer.
