Ant McPartlin has said newspaper claims of him having a 'meltdown' ahead of the National Television Awards are 'shit'.

Tweeting from the official Ant and Dec account, he shared a photo of the front page of a newspaper, which reports that the presenter was feeling stressed ahead of the awards tonight, with the caption: "What a load of sh#t! A".

He followed the initial post with a second one, writing that he couldn't wait for tonight's ceremony.

This will be Ant's first red-carpet event since he entered rehab last summer, after admitting to becoming dependent on prescription pills.

The pair have been nominated for four awards, including the TV Presenter Award, which seems like a fairly safe bet given that they have won it on 16 consecutive occasions.

However, they're leaving nothing to chance and today took to Twitter to ask fans for last-minute support - the tweet read: "Less than 24 hours to vote for all your favourites at the @Official NTAs. Vote closes at noon tomorrow."

And, according to the Daily Star, the NTA's website broke shortly after, claiming that it was because of the Geordie pair's army of fans rushing to vote.

Some fans were left fuming that the site crashed as they tried to cast their vote, with one tweeting: "Still trying to vote but NTA site is still down!!! Is it a conspiracy!!"

A spokesperson from NTA confirmed to the Daily Star that the site temporarily crashed, but didn't say it was because of Ant and Dec, telling the paper: "There were some issues on certain operating systems but they were soon resolved."

As well as Best Presenter, the pair are also up for Best Challenge Show for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! against Love Island, The Great British Bake Off and Masterchef.

They're also in the running for Best Talent Show for The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, and for the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award with Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.
