Scientists discover 'the ideal hangover cure' from combination of common household fridge items

Scientists discover 'the ideal hangover cure' from combination of common household fridge items

This hangover cure can be found in your fridge but it's pretty grim

As many people will be groaning, holding their heads and wondering what on Earth could end the throbbing tomorrow, turns out there is an answer to your hangover... but you might not like it.

You might actually find it in your fridge full of leftovers too, which is a bonus.

New Year’s Eve is the night of the year where the nation collectively pops the bubbly and parties all night long, so it’ll be no surprise when tomorrow rocks around that a good hangover drink is needed.

This bizarre hangover-curing drink concoction will get you through tomorrow without any issues.

Some might say that drinking a pint of water before bed does the job, others have a good old English fry up the morning after (I agree with this one).

But, obviously, the best way to avoid a hangover is to simply not drink.

However, it's that time of year when the drinks are flowingly a little more easily, and the excuse of 'it's NYE' has got to be the most commonly used sentence around this time.

However, scientists have actually found out that this is the hangover cure that is said to do the trick.

It’s pretty gross though and you're probably not going to like the sound of it, but if you can hold your nose, it might just save you a whole lot of grief after your heavy session.

Hangovers are honestly the worse aren't they?

According to the scientists, you should be drinking a bizarre concoction of coconut water, lime, and pear.

It sounds grim but if it works, it’s a miracle.

To accompany it should be a small amount of cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

The research was performed by the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai, India back in 2019.

The conclusions of the study stated: "A beverage made from a blend of sweet lime, pear, and coconut water could be used to overcome hangover.

"The consumption of this beverage with cheese, cucumber, and tomatoes may further alleviate the hangover symptoms.”

Hangovers affect us all differently, but it’s all to do with the body’s ability to process alcohol.

When ethanol – alcohol, to you and me – enters the body, it must be broken down in the liver and is converted into acetaldehyde, which builds up and makes you feel like s***.

Experts have also warned of the drink that gives you the worst hangovers, and you could probably guess it's the devil's sparkling wine, aka Prosecco.

If you drink it often, you'll know that a Prosecco hangover is just a different breed of pain.

And while simply not drinking it is the best way to avoid it, apparently drinking a glass of water between the fizzy bubbles will help you the next day.
