Nothing sweet about that

Chrissy Teigen has lost four tooth caps eating sweets. Watch her recount the ill-fated snacking here:

The 35-year-old told Ellen DeGeneres she had been forced to take up a diet of mashed potato and soup after a Fruit Roll-Up (like a Fruit Winder) caused carnage in her mouth at Joe Biden's inauguration.

Asked by Ellen if she had lost a tooth, she replied: "Did I lose a tooth?! I lost one tooth there and I lost three teeth here.

"I lost this tooth and this tooth and this tooth... I had all temporary caps on them and they're all gone.

"In the bubble, there was only one thing you could do, and that was go to CVS (Pharmacy). They had all this Valentine's Day stuff, so I bought mini Fruit Roll-Ups and I had one bite of one and then this one came off.

"You honestly have no idea how important your teeth are until they're gone. Don't take your teeth for granted, because when all four corners are gone, you cannot eat. So I can't eat until the 18th!"

As well as giving up just about all foods for the time being, Teigen also recently revealed that she has been sober.

At the end of December she said she hadn't drank in four weeks and at the inauguration she tweeted that she was sober.

Explaining the decision to knock booze on the head in an Instagram story, she wrote: "One month ago, on my birthday, I got this book from my doctor and friend.

"I was done with making an a** of myself in front of people (I'm still embarrassed), tired of day drinking and feeling like s*** at 6, not being able to sleep.

"I have been sober ever since."

The model and author - who is married to singer John Legend - has previously opened up about her struggles with alcohol.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan in 2017, she said: "I was, point blank, just drinking too much.

"I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show.

"And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected.

"And that feeling, there's just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It's not a good look for me, for John, for anybody."

Teigen has a history of alcohol abuse in her family and said she 'can't have just one drink'.

She said: "Nobody really brought it up to me. They just assumed that it was OK because I always felt OK the next morning.

"I knew in my heart it wasn't right. It makes you very short with people. People think it's cutesy and fun to go on these boozy brunches, but there's more to it. I've never once been like, 'I'm sure glad I had that boozy brunch!'"

She added: "I used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober, but now I get it. I don't want to be that person... I have to fix myself."
