A man who Rihanna has named as her cousin has been shot and killed just hours after they spent Christmas together in Barbados.
Twenty-one-year-old Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne was taking a walk at 7pm on Boxing Day in St Michael's when he was shot several times by an unidentified male who then fled the scene, according to Nation News.
He was rushed into hospital, but later died due to his injuries. Rihanna has not confirmed the events which led to her apparent family member's death.
Police are currently looking for the gunman and have asked for anyone who may have any information to get in touch.
Singer Rihanna paid a heart-breaking tribute on Instagram, sharing a number of photos of them together, she wrote: "RIP cousin... can't believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms!
"Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!"
Before including the hashtag #endgunviolence.
She also shared a tribute on her Instagram stories, containing his Instagram handle, the words 'rest up lil cuz' and a number of emojis, including a broken heart and an angel.
Rihanna's post has been flooded with messages of condolences from fans following the news, with many offering their support and telling the star to remain strong. Others said they would pray for the singer and her family.
In February this year, Travon celebrated with his 'favourite cousin' Rihanna on her 29th birthday.
He posted a snap of them together with the caption: "Every day we are happy to have you in our lives. Happy Birthday cousin, we really love you.
"Your presence in my life is a source of joy and happiness. To my favourite cousin, may all your dreams and wishes come true."
