Richard Ashcroft livened up everyone's cereal this morning with an out of the ordinary interview on BBC Breakfast, during which he compared life to The Truman Show, climbed on the sofa and banged his head on the set.
The rocker has just released a new album, Natural Rebel, but rather calmly discussing the new record, the former Verve frontman interjected at tangents, clambered around the set and generally baffled presenters and viewers alike.
Almost completely out of nowhere, Ashcroft asserted that 'sometimes life feels like the Truman Show' before climbing over the back of the sofa and approaching a glass panel with an image of a city projected onto it. Ashcroft then declared that he wanted to 'say hello to Manchester', before banging his head on the glass and saying, 'oh it is the Truman Show'.
The show cut to a clip from a music video from his new album, before returning to the studio where Ashcroft was now splayed across the sofa. Credit to presenter, Naga Munchetty, she sort of tries to replicate his pose with her own lean across the sofa. She also laughs along with the madness and generally seems to appreciate that the interview is nothing if not novel.

Co-presenter, Charlie Stayt, by contrast seems fairly uneasy with the chaos that has ensued on the otherwise orderly programme.
The singer songwriter went on to say that he had 'never had a bad review off a good looking person', as well as lots of other odd things about sunglasses and working night shifts.
Safe to safe, he provoked a mixed reaction among viewers:

The rock star also recently caught up with LADbible to discuss Liam Gallagher, littering and politics. He also said the person who 'doctored' a photo of a suspicious item that fell out of his pocket on Soccer Am is going to regret it.
