Lorry carrying supercars tips over causing millions of damage

It had been travelling along an A road in Kent when it toppled over

A transporter lorry carrying a large number of supercars caused millions in damage after it tipped over along an A road in Kent.

Police said the transporter had been travelling along the A20 near Farningham, Sevenoaks, on Wednesday (23 August) when it toppled over.

While there was evident damage to the vehicles being transported – which included models manufactured by Mercedes, Aston Martin, BMW, and Lamborghini – incredibly, the driver only suffered a ‘minor injury’.

Footage of the aftermath was posted on Facebook by user Ben Slipper, who wrote: “Just happened outside Brands Hatch [a motor racing circuit in West Kingsdown], fella has dabbed the brakes and got the mother of all tank slappers.”

In the video, he can be seen walking through the wreckage, saying in shock: “Oh my God. Oh, f**k.

“Oh, of all the cars to go over... What the f**k?”

Now that is one bad day at the office...

While some cars are still piled up – albeit now sideways – on has completely flipped over after being thrown across the road.

Many social media users were equally stunned by the destruction, with one commenting: “That is seriously f**ked up.”

Someone else said: “That’s bonkers imagine the damage bill wow.”

Another agreed: “Few quids’ worth there.”

A fourth simply said heads will ‘roll’ for what happened while one other added: “S**t the bed!”

One person was even reminded of a certain famous movie franchise, joking: “All of them are from different manufacturers, is this truck coming out from Furious 11?”

Kent Police confirmed the force was called to the scene on Wednesday evening, following reports of an accident.

The road had to be closed as they attempted to clear it of the supercar pile-up, with National Highways South-East warning that traffic was being diverted via local routes after a 'serious collision'.

"The #A20 in #Kent is closed westbound between the #M25/M20 J1 and the #B2173 due to a serious collision," it said at 7.33pm.

At 7.56pm, the highways agency said in a follow-up tweet that the road remained closed.

That sure looks expensive.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 7.57pm on Wednesday 23 August to a report that a car transporter had overturned on the A20 near Farningham.

“Officers attended the scene where the driver reported a minor injury.

“The road was closed while arrangements were made to recover the vehicles.”
