POV video shows what UK's fastest and tallest rollercoaster at Thorpe Park might look like

Thorpe Park's 'Project Exodus' is set to break records and now we have a better idea of what to expect

A heart-pounding POV clip shows what thrillseekers can expect from a new theme park ride which is set to take the title of the UK's fastest and tallest rollercoaster when it opens next year.

The ride at Surrey's Thorpe Park, currently known as 'Project Exodus', is set to take the crown from Blackpool Pleasure Beach's infamous The Big One as the UK's tallest rollercoaster and will stand and a staggering 72 meters high.

The Big One, which stands at 64.9 meters, opened in 1994 and was — at the time — the world's tallest rollercoaster.

While it's remained as the UK's tallest, Six Flag Great Adventure's Kingda Ka has since taken the world title.

But now, the almost-30-year-old theme park ride will lose it's UK title as well, with 'Project Exodus' expected to open next year.

'Project Exodus' is also rumoured to be the UK's fastest ride and will hit speeds of 80mph.

With the ride expected to have numerous loop-de-loops, it could be an idea to stay clear of any hot dogs and burgers before going on this one.

Construction for 'Project Exodus' kickstarted in January 2023 and is expected to take 15 months to complete.

To make room for the heart-racing new attraction, Thorpe Park has had to get rid of some of its classic, well-loved rides such as Loggers Leap, Canada Creek Railway and the Rocky Express.

A planning statement made by a consultancy firm, Lichfield, read, as per MyLondon: "The redevelopment will refresh the ride offer in this part of the Resort and will deliver Thorpe Park Resort’s first rollercoaster since The Swarm in 2012.

"The redevelopment will involve the removal of existing rides in operation, namely Lumber Jump, Rocky Express and Timber Tug Boat, as well as Old Town Grill and other theming features."

The firm went on to hail 'Project Exodus' as 'a crucial element of the Resort’s post-Covid-19 recovery' and could bring in a whopping £13.6 million in visitor expenditure in local shops, hotels, restaurants and hotels, when completed.

Last month, Thorpe Park teased the opening of 'Project Exodus' and promised that not only will it be the UK's tallest, but the UK's fastest as well.

"We couldn't let #NationalRollercoasterDay go by without mentioning a little thing we call 'Project Exodus'-our new #coaster coming soon to #ThorpePark," the Thorpe Park official X page wrote on 16 August.

"Not only is it going to be the UK's tallest #rollercoaster, but it'll also be the UK's fastest!"

When someone asks when the official name of the ride is going to be revealed, the account replied: "All in good time".

While it sounds like an undeniably epic new ride, I think I'll personally stick to the teacups.
