11-month-old becomes 'the world's most well-travelled baby' after visiting 23 countries

An 11-month-old has set a record that seems incredible.

While some couples wouldn't dare to travel while they have a newborn, Becs Lewis and Will Montgomery are doing the opposite.

Becs gave birth to little Atlas in August last year and then decided to use her maternity leave as a holiday.

Will took a sabbatical and the trio set off from their home in Queenstown, New Zealand for a humungous European trek.

Atlas learned to crawl in Switzerland, got his first tooth in Norway and started eating solid foods in France.

Becs said: "I went travelling in New Zealand in 2016 and started to work towards my residency there.

"I said once I got it, I would come back to do a European road trip.

"A year before I got my residency, I met Will.

"We decided we would get a puppy but I got pregnant, and it spiralled from there.

"It never occurred to me that you could travel with a baby. It seemed so unrealistic, but it is not that hard.

"It has been amazing - you can see every bit of his growth. It's great being able to travel just the three of us."

They visited the UK so that their extended family could meet Atlas for the first time, which was very special to the couple.

Will and Becs then bought a Fiat Ducato van for £11,000 and went on a few road trips across the continent.

They had to be back in the UK every three months, but that didn't stop them from seeing some incredible places.

The couple managed to rack up 23 countries on their extended holiday, which included visits to Italy, San Marino, Switzerland, Litchenstein, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark and Norway.

Becs said: "There were a few issues with Atlas' vaccinations as he was so young.

"He had his first vaccinations in New Zealand then we had to transfer them to England.

"Travelling, in general, can be quite difficult. I have travelled individually and now as a family.

"It's great but it has been a different experience. I consider safety a lot more now.

"The pace of travel is a lot slower than it would have been when I was 18."

They stuck to a strict budget of spending £3 on food per day and allowed themselves to eat at one nice place at each destination.

Once they finish their trip, Atlas will have visited 25 countries in the world and all before his first birthday.
