Aaron Carter’s twin has extremely honest response when asked why she thinks 3 of her 4 siblings died young

Celebrity families are a lot more complicated than you might think.

Money doesn’t always bring happiness to those with ‘dysfunction’ in their homes, and for some, it can even bring tragedy.

But the Carter family has had more than their fair share of tragedy in the last decade after three members died of drug-related causes.

In the wake of Aaron Carter’s 2022 death, caused by ‘drowning due to the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam’, his sister, Angel has spoken candidly about why she believes her siblings died so young.

The sister of Backstreet Boys Nick Carter and the late singer and TV personality Aaron, opened up on Wednesday 24 April to Gayle King on CBS Mornings.

When King asked her about the deaths of Leslie, 25, Aaron, 34, and Bobbi Jean, 41, from overdoses or drug complications, Angel said admitted that her family life and fame could have contributed.

She said: "There's certainly a generational dysfunction issue here that comes along with it, but as far as growing up, there was a time where we were a really close family. There was a lot of love. But there was a lot of chaos going on at the same time.

"Just fighting. My parents were just fighting all the time. Just dysfunction in the home. No boundaries. No stability. No one to talk to. It just felt like, if I had an issue going on I really couldn't have my parents to lean on to."

But fighting wasn’t the only problem, as in the 2000s when Nick and Aaron’s careers took off, it brought a new dynamic to the Carter household.

Angel said: "I do. I think it changed everything, honestly.

"Nick has been in Backstreet Boys since I was four or five years old. So, a really long time. We were a family that had no money. We were from upstate New York. My parents were poor. And they had never seen anything like this before. So, once the money started coming in, it just changed the dynamic because money became the moving force."

Although the family had tried ‘everything’ in their power to help Aaron before his death, he didn’t have one thing that he needed. His innocence.

She said: "Aaron did not have his innocence.

"He was working like an adult from a very young age. And he just wanted to be home."

At the time of his death, the Carter family were 'extremely saddened and shocked to confirm' their loss, and a representative said: "Right now it's a really bad time we're trying to figure out what happened and what the cause of it was.

"We're just as upset as everyone and hope that fans can give thoughts and prayers to his family."
