The Jeremy Kyle show was taken off the air in May after a guest died shortly after filming. This has left a vacant slot which ITV bosses are yet to fill. An ITV source believes that Love Island's Maura Higgins could fill the void and become the queen of daytime television.

Yes that's right.

The 'source' told Extra.ie: "Maura has literally moved the dial when it comes to Love Island numbers in England and Ireland.

"She has done everything, she has gone viral, and she has been brought up by charities as a poster girl for the modern woman.

"Even Piers Morgan has been giving out about her so you know that she is doing something right," because Piers is a great compass for all things culture apparently.

The source continued: "ITV will be screen testing her when she gets out of the villa that is for sure and who knows what could happen."

Higgins is known for her no-nonsense approach, which she shares with Kyle. The source said: "There is a vacant slot where the Jeremy Kyle show goes, if she plays her cards right she could land that."

"It is more than likely however though that she would be looked at for I'm A Celebrity and Dancing on Ice.

"Her accent may be her big hurdle for a major presenting gig but she it is definitely only the star if things for her."

Creators of The Jeremy Kyle Show were accused of 'exploiting stress' for the sake of entertainment and admitted that their lie detector tests were error prone. Graham Stanier, Director of Aftercare for the show, was asked how many people requiring aftercare had needed it because of the lie detector.

He said: "We explain it differently, what we would say prior to the show is that some people would fail the test but that what they'd said was true."

Mr. Collins asked if people were sat down and told that the test could be wrong a third of the time if they become distressed. Mr. Stanier said he was always aware of that the test was not accurate, but that he didn't know the figures.

If you prefer Love Island over Jeremy Kyle then you can visit the villa from the comfort of your chair. An eagle-eyed viewer managed to find the sought-after spot on Google Maps. Best of all, if you have the money, you could even take a vacation there.

Regardless of whether Higgins gets the ITV gig or not, she's made such an impression on Love Island that she's set to make millions in her next ventures over the next few years.
