If you've been waiting for the return of McDonald's Monopoly, you'll be pleased to learn that the waiting is almost over - it's coming back this week.

As of this Wednesday - 25 August - you'll be able to get Monopoly tokens with purchases at Maccies, and it's been a long old time since we saw that.

It's been two and a half years, in fact.

You'll be able to pick up the prizes at all McDonald's restaurants, and there's even a bit of a twist this time, as they're offering up something of a VIP experience.

So, what exactly makes it VIP?

McDonald's

Well, you could end up become a McDonald's VIP, which - while that may sound a bit vague - is definitely something you want to be.

Basically, McDonald's is going to be giving away 1,000 McDonald's VIP Gold Cards for the first time ever with this Monopoly promotion.

The cards entitle the lucky holders to one free medium meal every week for a full 12 months at their local restaurant. Not bad, right?

The game was supposed to return in the summer of 2020, but - well - we all know what happened there, don't we?

Then, a second proposed return was shelved in March because of the same problem, which caused restaurants to remain closed and left restrictions in place.

Now, with all of those restrictions eased - in England, at least - the game can return properly.

Problematically, the postponement came after millions - 200 million, to be precise - of pieces had been printed and dated on various bits of McDonald's packaging.

However, in an attempt to keep the amount of waste down, those pieces and packages have been repurposed so that the game can still go ahead, now that it's safe to do so.

Because of this issue, which means that some of the packaging will have incorrect expiry dates, they've been urging customers to head on over to this website in order to check the dates.

Make sure you do, because you don't want to miss out on some of the extraordinary prizes that are now on offer.

So, whether you're a serious McDonald's fan, or just someone who fancies their chances at picking up a prize, you simply need to PASS GO and get on down to your local restaurant to buy one of the products bearing the tell-tale Monopoly pieces.

Good luck, folks.
