Former Apple worker warns about simple mistake that's killing iPhone batteries

Is your iPhone always low on charge? Apparently there's something you need to do

When you've had an iPhone for a few years you can start to notice certain issues with the device's battery life.

Where once it would sit pretty on 100 percent for ages and then barely dip below halfway, now Low Power Mode is your best friend.

However, there's apparently some hacks you can use to prolong your phone's battery life and at first they sound a bit counter-intuitive.

Former Apple employee Tyler Morgan claims to have a few pieces of advice, with the first one being to switch off the phone's Bluetooth feature.

You hardly use it anyway, so you might as well turn it off for the 99.99 percent of the time you don't need it.

Next is to switch off the background app refresh on your phone so you don't have all of your apps silently chewing through power when you're not even using them.

Switching off location services, Siri and toning down the phone's brightness always helps, as even when you're not actively using it your phone is still burning through battery life.

A tip you probably haven't heard of is keeping your iPhone in the 'sweet spot' of charge between 30 and 80 percent.

Apparently letting your battery run down and then charging it back up to full again puts some strain on the battery, but if you can keep your phone swirling in the 'sweet spot' then you should be able to prolong battery life.

Of course this sounds like it'd take a lot of micromanagement, so you'll have to keep an eye on things much more closely to prolong your phone's battery life.

There have been complaints from Apple users that some updates have appeared to significantly drain their phone's battery.

Some have claimed that it's resulted in them burning through the iPhone battery in just a couple of hours.

Another Apple user said browsing the internet on the phone was taking a serious toll on battery life.

One of the settings you can toggle in your phone is 'Reduce White Point', which you can find by hopping on the Settings app, selecting Accessibility and then choosing Display & Text Size.

This reduces the intensity of bright colours on your screen and apparently the more you do this the more battery life you save.

It's worth a go.

LADbible has contacted Apple for comment.
