The Crown season five is officially in production and fans are eager to see how Princess Diana and Prince Charles' increasingly unhappy marriage plays out in this next series.
First released on Netflix in November 2016, The Crown has entertained and captivated millions of royalists with an account of life behind the doors of the world's most famous palace.
The series has often left viewers wondering about the extent to which the scandals and goings on in the series are true and how much is embellished for entertainment. And now, the UK government has said that the docu-drama should be labelled as 'fiction,' to which the producers of the series responded saying said there are "no plans" to add any disclaimer to the show.

Season four highlights include the 'wedding of the century' between the young Princess (Emma Corrin) and Prince (Josh O'Connor), and Margaret Thatcher's reign as Britain's first female Prime Minister.
Season five will see a new elite cast play the older versions of the royals, with Guardians of the Galaxy's Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and The Affair's Dominic West as Prince Charles.
We've heard that the Iron Lady's storyline will take a backseat while Charles and Diana's failing marriage will continue to be the central focus.
The Crown season 5 release date
No release date has been confirmed for season five of The Crown yet. Filming began in July 2021 and it's thought that the new series will drop on Netflix in early 2022.
