Bloke has awkward reaction when first date reveals what she does for money

There’s always that mate in the group chat that seems to come back with the wildest stories from their dates – so wild that you question if they’re actually going out with anyone at all.

But this bloke certainly has quite the tale for his friends after his date made an interesting reveal.

Greg is one of the daters to feature in tonight’s (January 2) new episode of First Dates.

Starting off the brand new season, there's a rather awkward moment to kick it off.

Matched up with this self-confessed ‘gamer’, dater Mercedes delivers him quite the shock when she reveals what she does to make cash.

Revealing she has a ‘net worth of £400,000’, she explains she started doing OnlyFans to boost her income and well, Greg doesn’t quite know what to say.

During their date, Mercedes explained that after finishing uni she found it ‘hard to get a job’.

“So I was like ‘maybe I should just try something to earn a little bit of money on the side’,” she said.

Then - after quite the pause - she revealed: “I do OnlyFans.”

Greg suddenly burst into a rather big smile as he gave a nod and an ‘ok’ and was pretty lost for words.

He admitted he ‘didn’t assume anything’ about her job as the lad seemed a little awkward.

Mercedes said that so far, two years in to doing OnlyFans, her ‘net worth is £400,000’ and she'd made ‘£70k in a month’.

She told Greg: “A lot of the time, these girls, they’re not dumb girls. A lot of the girls there are paying their way through uni and sh*t.

“They’re working their arse off and they’re good at what they do.”

The lad then attempted to joke: “Well they can’t work their arse off, they need it.

“It’s an asset.”

Oh, mate.

Rather sweetly though, he did try to assure love-seeking Mercedes as he said: “I believe sex work is real work.”

Well I, for one, hope it works out for the pair.

Tonight’s first episode marks the start of the 10^th anniversary of the popular show and after previously moving to Manchester from London, Channel 4 have now moved the First Dates restaurant to Bath.

As well as Fred Sirieix being back for the series after recently appearing in the jungle, so is waitress Cici Coleman and barman Merlin Griffiths.

First Dates airs on Channel 4 tonight (January 2) at 10pm.
