Lidl's Deluxe Steak With Béarnaise Sauce Is Perfect For Father's Day

Treat your dad this Father's Day with something you know he'll love

Father's Day is a bit of a tricky one for presents - not least because, while we hear so much about Mother's Day in the lead up to the big event, Father's Day seems to creep up out of absolutely nowhere.

With that in mind, we're guessing you've probably not figured out that all important gift for your old man, and even with this prior warning (it's on Sunday 17 June, by the way), you still haven't got a clue what he'd like.

We suggest you play it safe and go for something you know he's into... and what's more reliable for that than a delicious, juicy steak?

Just in time for Father's Day, Lidl is selling a Deluxe West Country Sirloin Steak costing £3.99 for 220g - which is an absolute steal given what you'd pay in most restaurants.

Sadly, it's not as big as similar steaks Lidl has had on offer - like the 1.1kg Cowboy Steak that went on sale a few months back, which was a colossal bone-in ribeye steak with a short Frenched bone.

Nope, this time it's quality not quantity, as this one is not only a sirloin steak - a cut that's known for being a slightly stronger, beefier flavour than some others like fillet or ribeye while still being nice and lean - but it also comes with a tasty posh sauce that's definitely going to bring in the brownie points.

The sauce that the steak comes with is Béarnaise, whichis EASILY the best of the classic steak sauces. I know loads of you like your peppercorn - and I do too - but Béarnaise is the one, I'm telling you.

A sauce made from clarified butter with egg yolks, white wine vinegar and tarragon, it's got the richness you crave for an indulgent bit of steak, with some acidity to also cut through the intense flavours. Bloody banging.

Rival supermarket Aldi has also been in on the big steak-off for some time now, having launched its very own 'Big Daddy Steak' to tie in with the most recent Bank Holiday.

Sadly, the 16oz, 21-day matured, extra thick rump steak was only in stores for one day, and we're guessing it flew off shelves as it only set customers back £4.99.

The company also released a 'Mother of All Steaks' earlier this year for Mother's Day, but there's no word yet on the return of its Big Daddy equivalent, which sold out on Father's Day last year.

Well, what are you waiting for? Put down that crappy novelty 'Best Dad' mug and get him the tasty steak you know he deserves.
